PSHE

PSHE, or Personal, Social, and Health Education, is structured to equip children and young people with the knowledge, understanding, and skills necessary to navigate and manage their lives effectively.

As part of a whole-school approach, PSHE fosters the qualities and attributes pupils need to thrive as individuals, family members and active participants in society. It prepares them to face the significant opportunities, challenges, and responsibilities they encounter while growing up in an ever-changing world. PSHE also helps children connect the knowledge they gain across various subjects to real-life situations, while creating a safe and supportive environment that enables them to reach their academic potential.

At Highfields Academy, we are fully committed to promoting British Values in accordance with the latest DfE guidelines and the Equality Act 2010, ensuring that children are kept safe and well-prepared for life in modern Britain. We emphasise core British values such as democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance for those with diverse faiths and beliefs. These values are integrated into our daily interactions with pupils, our relationships within the school community, the RE curriculum, the PSHE curriculum and throughout all aspects of school life. We also incorporate 'Picture News' as an additional tool to promote British Values at Highfields Academy.

To support the effective delivery of PSHE, we use the Coram Life Education Scarf programme.
